Bernard Drainville Ignites CAQ Leadership Race with Inaugural Campaign Rally

Bernard Drainville, former environment minister, has officially announced his candidacy to lead the Coalition Avenir Québec (CAQ) following François Legault. Speaking at a restaurant in Lévis, where he serves as the member of parliament, Drainville emphasized the need for a strong nationalist voice in Quebec.

Expressing his commitment to change and reconnecting with the party’s core values, Drainville outlined his vision for the CAQ under his leadership. He highlighted the importance of economic security, particularly through the construction of a third link between Quebec City and Lévis. Emphasizing his dedication to supporting local businesses and putting families at the forefront of politics, Drainville aims to steer the CAQ back to its roots.

Facing competition from Christine Fréchette, Drainville has garnered notable endorsements, including Minister Samuel Poulin and several MNAs. Meanwhile, Fréchette has been gaining support, with Minister of International Relations Christopher Skeete also backing her candidacy.
