Hamilton Police are currently looking into a violent incident involving a shooting that left a man injured late Friday evening.
According to authorities, a call was made to report the shooting at a business close to the intersection of East 28th Street and Fennell Avenue East at approximately 7 p.m.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers found a man who had sustained serious injuries and was subsequently taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
In a statement released on Sunday, the police mentioned that the suspected perpetrator likely fled on foot towards the north on East 27th Street from Fennell Avenue East. However, there is no detailed description of the suspect available at this time.
The investigation is still in its early phases, and the police have requested any individuals who were in the Eastmount area between 7 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. on January 31 and have dash cam or surveillance footage to come forward and assist investigators.
This incident marks the first shooting in Hamilton in 2026.
