Serial Car Burglar Strikes: 20-Year-Old Suspected in 48 Vehicle Break-Ins Across Mississauga

A 20-year-old man was apprehended by Peel Regional Police in Mississauga on Thursday following a string of vehicle break-ins that had plagued the community.

Residents had reported multiple incidents of car break-ins in December 2025, mainly occurring in the vicinity of Kimbermount Avenue, Aquitaine Avenue, and Regents Terrace.

After a detailed investigation, authorities identified Basil Ass’ad, a man without a fixed address, as the suspect behind the crimes. Ass’ad was apprehended on January 26 and faces a total of five charges, including 48 counts of mischief over $5,000, two counts of theft over $5,000, five counts of theft under $5,000, possession of stolen property, and fraud under $5,000.

Following his arrest, Ass’ad was scheduled for a bail hearing. Further details regarding the case have not been disclosed.
