Billionaire Frank Stronach Faces Court in High-Profile Sexual Assault Trial Starting Today in Toronto

The Toronto sexual assault trial of prominent Canadian businessman Frank Stronach is scheduled to commence today, with the case being heard by a judge alone. Stronach is facing a total of 12 charges related to alleged incidents involving seven individuals, with some dating back to the 1970s.

Despite the 93-year-old billionaire’s denial of all accusations, he initially opted for a jury trial but ultimately decided on a judge-alone trial, with the Crown’s approval. Stronach, who is best known as the founder of the car parts giant Magna International, is also anticipated to face trial in Newmarket, Ontario, later this year.

In 2024, Peel regional police laid 18 charges against Stronach, involving 13 accusers, which were later separated into two cases. Due to a publication ban, the identities of the complainants remain confidential.
