Turmoil in Quebec Politics: Defiant Marwah Rizqy Claims Inner Peace Amidst Liberal Party Crisis

Following a turbulent period within the Quebec Liberal Party (PLQ), MNA Marwah Rizqy has returned to the National Assembly, expressing a sense of peace with her decisions during the crisis.

After being appointed as parliamentary leader by Liberal leader Pablo Rodriguez, who did not have a seat in the Assembly, tensions arose between Rizqy and Geneviève Hinse, Rodriguez’s chief of staff. Rizqy’s dismissal of Hinse without consulting Rodriguez led to her expulsion from the caucus, eventually culminating in Rodriguez’s resignation last December.

Geneviève Hinse is now suing Marwah Rizqy for $500,000 over her termination. In her defense statement, Rizqy asserts that she acted to prevent violations of National Assembly rules, accusing Hinse and Rodriguez of intending to misuse Assembly-paid staff for partisan purposes.

Amid speculations about rejoining the Liberal caucus, Rizqy stated that the decision lies with the next party leader. Emphasizing her commitment to integrity during her tenure as parliamentary leader, she expressed a desire to avoid exclusion from the party.
