Metrolinx Faces Delays After Train Derailment
Metrolinx officials have announced that reduced rail services will continue through Wednesday morning following a recent train derailment. The incident, which occurred on a Kitchener-bound GO Transit train during Monday’s commute, led to disruptions across the Lakeshore East and West lines.
The derailment, which caused a rear passenger car to come off the track and impact a signal switch, resulted in significant damage to the signal system. While repairs are underway, officials anticipate that service disruptions will persist in the coming days. Metrolinx CEO Michael Lindsay has assured transparency in the investigation into the incident.
Although no injuries were reported, thousands of commuters were affected by the delays. Those impacted may be eligible for a fare refund. Metrolinx encourages passengers to stay updated on the latest train schedules and service alerts.
