Maccelli’s Double Strike Powers Maple Leafs to Commanding 5-2 Victory Over Oilers

Matias Maccelli shined with a pair of goals as the Toronto Maple Leafs triumphed over the Edmonton Oilers with a 5-2 victory on Tuesday. The Leafs’ offense was firing on all cylinders, with Matthew Knies also contributing a goal and an assist, John Tavares netting his 20th goal of the season, and Bobby McMann sealing the win with an empty-net goal.

In a tightly contested match, Kapanen equalized the score at 2-2 early in the third period, but crucial penalties proved costly for the Oilers. Rookie standout Matthew Savoie and Mattias Janmark found themselves in the penalty box, leading to Maccelli’s decisive goal during a 5-on-3 power play and Tavares extending the lead on the ensuing advantage.

Anthony Stolarz was stellar in goal for the Leafs, making 34 saves, including a spectacular diving stop on Leon Draisaitl to keep Edmonton at bay in the final minutes.

The Oilers, who received goals from Jake Walman and Kasperi Kapanen, were unable to overcome Toronto’s strong performance. Connor Ingram made 22 saves in a losing effort.

Toronto’s victory marked their third consecutive win, following a previous triumph over the Flames. Meanwhile, Edmonton is on a two-game losing streak and has one more game before the NHL takes a break for the Milan Cortina Games.
