Today’s Update on Frank Stronach’s Sexual Assault Trial Delay
An update is expected today in the ongoing case of Canadian businessman Frank Stronach, as his sexual assault trial in Toronto faces delays. The trial had been set to commence earlier this week, but Stronach’s legal team requested more time for preparation due to a significant influx of new materials, including multiple videotaped statements.
The defense team has also indicated plans to seek more disclosure and anticipates potential additional motions before the trial officially begins. Stronach’s lawyers are set to provide an update in court today on the progress made.
Frank Stronach, a 93-year-old tycoon renowned for founding the auto parts giant Magna International and becoming one of Canada’s wealthiest individuals, is currently facing 12 charges involving seven complainants. The allegations span incidents alleged to have occurred between the 1970s and 1990s.
Stronach has vehemently denied all accusations. Initially charged with 18 offenses concerning 13 complainants in 2024, the case was later divided, with a separate trial for the remaining allegations slated to take place later this year in Newmarket, Ont.
