Homicide Charges Escalated in Tragic Death of 30-Year-Old Abbotsford Woman

The BC Prosecution Service has announced that the individual suspected in the tragic killing of a 30-year-old woman in Abbotsford is now facing charges of first-degree murder. Originally, the 26-year-old Abbotsford resident had been charged with second-degree murder and indignity to human remains in connection with the incident.

Following a thorough investigation, the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) revealed that upgraded charges were approved by the BC Prosecution Service. IHIT Sgt. Freda Fong emphasized that the investigative efforts did not cease with the initial charges being laid.

The alleged crime took place on January 15 at a hotel on Marshall Road in Abbotsford. Police responded to the scene shortly after 11:30 a.m. and discovered the incident had occurred in a room within the hotel.

IHIT continues to delve into the details surrounding the relationship between the victim and the accused as part of the ongoing investigation.
