An incident of antisemitic vandalism occurred at a seafood restaurant in Montreal’s Plateau Mont-Royal neighborhood on Wednesday.
The owner of Maestro SVP took to social media to share a disturbing photo of the vandalism on the restaurant’s exterior. The hateful message, “You (expletive) Jew,” accompanied by a Star of David, was scrawled in blue marker on the glass.
Expressing dismay, owner Ilene Polansky posted on Facebook, “So sad to come to work and see this!!”
Montreal police responded to a report of graffiti at the intersection of Saint-Laurent Boulevard and Prince Arthur Street, but it remains uncertain whether the incident is being investigated as a hate crime. Authorities are looking into security camera footage from the area to gather more information.
As of now, there are no leads on suspects, and no arrests have been made in connection to the vandalism.
