“Parents Outraged Over School Board’s Lackluster Response to Threats at Metro Vancouver Schools”

Following reported threats on Wednesday, several Metro Vancouver schools went on hold-and-secure, causing concern among parents. Despite the threats being later deemed non-credible, some parents criticized the school board’s response as lacking clarity and information.

Shaun Driver, whose child attends Glenayre Elementary, expressed frustration with the vague communication from School District 43. He highlighted the initial panic caused by the first email received around 1:30 p.m. and mentioned the subsequent messages lacking sufficient context, leaving parents to interpret the situation on their own.

Meanwhile, law enforcement authorities, including Insp. Veronica Fox from the Coquitlam RCMP, assured the public that they are actively investigating the threats to determine their source. The police are taking the incidents seriously and are working to establish any possible connections between the calls made to schools in Coquitlam and Port Coquitlam.

Although the threats were made via phone, they were ultimately deemed not credible. While speculations about a potential swatting incident arise, with the intent to provoke a police response to false threats, authorities are still tracing the origins of the calls to ascertain the motive behind them.

In a separate incident in Port Moody, police are also looking into a similar threat made at an elementary school, which prompted a brief hold-and-secure protocol. Despite the swift clearance of all affected schools, concerns about public safety remain prevalent in the community.

Overall, the authorities are actively pursuing leads and addressing the situation to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff at the affected schools.
