Canadian hockey star Marie-Philip Poulin was forced to leave an Olympic women’s hockey game against Czechia after sustaining a knee injury during the first period. Unfortunately, Poulin did not return to the ice for the rest of the game, as confirmed by CBC’s broadcast.
It was during the opening period when Poulin was checked by Kristyna Kaltounkova, causing her to noticeably favor her right knee. Despite briefly returning to play with Canada’s power-play unit, Poulin soon had to retreat to the dressing room due to discomfort, rejoining her teammates on the bench before the period concluded.
At the time of Poulin’s injury, Canada was leading 1-0, and they managed to score additional goals before the captain made a partial return. Poulin, known for her scoring prowess, holds an impressive record in Olympic women’s hockey, trailing only behind former teammate Hayley Wickenheiser.
With three gold medals already under her belt and as a five-time Olympian, Poulin’s absence due to injury raises concerns as Canada prepares to face Team USA in their upcoming game.
