Quebec to Boost Polytechnique Montréal with $269M Investment
Quebec’s Premier, François Legault, announced a significant investment of nearly $269 million in the expansion and modernization of Polytechnique Montréal, set to kick off this spring. Minister of Higher Education Martine Biron joined Legault in making the declaration on Tuesday.
The project’s objective is to enhance the training capacity for engineering students, aiming to bolster Quebec’s economic growth and support key projects, as highlighted in a government press release.
With a total value of $356.2 million, the project is slated for completion by 2031. The allocated funds will facilitate the acquisition of half of the J.-Armand-Bombardier Pavilion, expand the pavilion’s facilities, and revamp the surrounding outdoor areas.
Premier Legault emphasized the crucial role of innovation in shaping Quebec’s future, stressing the significance of engineers in driving this innovation forward. He underscored the importance of leveraging established strengths to navigate the evolving global landscape.
“Polytechnique and other esteemed institutions are pivotal in nurturing the talent essential for our economy’s success,” Legault highlighted in the press release.
