Quebec farmer Mario Roy is determined to vie for leadership in the Quebec Liberal Party, despite facing initial rejection from the party. Roy, who placed fifth in the previous leadership race won by Pablo Rodriguez, must raise $18,000 and gather 750 signatures by Friday to compete against the sole candidate, Charles Milliard.
In an interview with CityNews, Roy expressed his dedication to meeting the party’s requirements and garnering support for his candidacy. He emphasized the importance of financial contributions and engagement with potential supporters on his website.
While the electoral committee may reconsider Roy’s candidacy if he fulfills the criteria, he remains focused on meeting the deadline and connecting with party members for their backing. Roy highlighted the need for representation within the party, stressing his commitment to engaging in meaningful debates and advocating for all members’ interests.
As the race heats up with Milliard also re-entering the fray, Roy’s campaign seeks to address the concerns of underrepresented party members and foster a platform for change within the Quebec Liberal Party.
