Pedestrian Killed in Tragic Collision with Driver in Surrey

A tragic incident unfolded on Wednesday evening near Surrey’s City Centre, resulting in the loss of an 81-year-old woman who was struck by a vehicle.

According to the Surrey Police Service (SPS), emergency responders rushed to the scene on 102 Avenue close to Whalley Boulevard at approximately 6:30 p.m. The collision occurred as a driver traveling east collided with the pedestrian.

Despite immediate life-saving efforts, the pedestrian tragically succumbed to her injuries, as confirmed by a statement from the SPS.

The driver remained at the scene following the accident, and authorities have indicated that speed or impairment are not believed to have played a role in the incident.

Photographs taken at the location show a sedan with a damaged front hood and a metal shopping caddy lying in the street.

Following the incident, a section of 102 Avenue between 137A and 139 streets was temporarily closed to traffic for several hours, but has since been reopened.
