North Vancouver authorities are asking for the community’s assistance in investigating a serious hit-and-run incident that resulted in a person being severely injured last week.
According to the North Vancouver RCMP, the incident took place at the corner of West 3rd Street and Bewicke Avenue at approximately 8 p.m. on Thursday, February 5th.
Witnesses report that a person in a wheelchair was struck by a grey sedan as it turned left onto West 3rd Street. The driver then fled the scene, leaving the injured pedestrian behind.
The victim sustained significant but non-life-threatening injuries and has been hospitalized. Fortunately, medical professionals expect a full recovery.
In a bid to gather more details about the incident, the RCMP has released a dashcam video capturing the moments leading up to the collision.
Cpl. Mansoor Sahak stated, “We urge anyone who may have witnessed the event or possesses crucial information to come forward. Additionally, we appeal to the driver responsible for the incident to come forward, as it will aid our investigation in understanding the sequence of events.”
