“Community Alert: High-Risk Offender Released in Surrey, Public Urged to Stay Vigilant”

Authorities in Surrey issue a warning to the public regarding a recently released “high-risk” convicted sex offender now residing in the area.

58-year-old Marinus Willemse, released under strict conditions, is under the radar of the Surrey Police Service. Sgt. Tige Pollock outlines the conditions, including a curfew, no contact with victims, no possession of sharp objects, and avoidance of areas where children under 16 congregate.

The SPS emphasizes that Willemse poses a “significant risk” to women and children within the community. Despite completing his sentence, concerns about potential reoffending have led to a court-ordered recognizance.

While hoping for adherence to the conditions to prevent further incidents, officers will closely monitor Willemse. Described as 5’11” tall, 225 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes, his photos have been released for public identification.

Random checks and electronic monitoring will be conducted on Willemse. The public is urged to report any suspicions of non-compliance by dialing 911. Further information on his release is available on the Surrey Police Service website.
