Montreal Eyes Global Stage with Bold Bid to Host New International Defence Bank

The Quebec government, in collaboration with Montreal’s business community, is rallying to support the bid for Montreal to become the host city of the new Defence, Security, and Resilience Bank (DSR Bank).

During a recent event, Premier François Legault, alongside Montreal Mayor Soraya Martinez Ferrada and National Bank President and CEO Laurent Ferreira, championed Montreal’s candidacy for the DSR Bank.

Legault emphasized Montreal’s suitability as the ideal city to house this upcoming bank, which is designed to fund military initiatives spearheaded by democratic nations.

Expressing a unified front, Legault stressed the importance of cohesive advocacy from both political and business spheres to convince the federal government to select Quebec as the DSR Bank’s headquarters.

While Vancouver, promoted by British Columbia Premier David Eby, and Toronto, advocated by Ontario Premier Doug Ford, are also in the running, Montreal is making a strong case for itself.
