The City of Montreal has established a new platform for collaboration and knowledge-sharing among borough mayors. Mayor Soraya Martinez Ferrada initiated the creation of a roundtable to enhance coordination and expertise exchange between the city’s 19 boroughs.
This initiative stems from Martinez Ferrada’s campaign promise to address coordination issues highlighted during the Plante administration. The newly formed mayors’ forum has already convened twice this year, demonstrating a commitment to better communication and cooperation.
Martinez Ferrada emphasized the importance of the Table des maires in fostering collaboration, sharing experiences, and developing best practices to serve Montreal residents effectively. LaSalle Mayor Nancy Blanchet and Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension Mayor Jean-François Lalonde will co-lead the roundtable, leveraging their positions on the executive committee.
Blanchet, representing Équipe LaSalle, expressed optimism about the initial discussions, foreseeing enhanced collaboration for community advancement. Likewise, Lalonde from Projet Montréal stressed the roundtable’s significance in bolstering on-ground initiatives and driving positive outcomes.
