Initially appearing as a lone car accident, a tragic incident unfolded into a chilling crime – a homicide.
On February 14, 1992, William Neil, a 56-year-old from Westbrook, Ontario, left his auto repair shop after a mysterious phone call. Later that same day, he was discovered fatally shot in his vehicle on a road near Kingston.
Decades have passed, yet the identity of his killer remains a mystery.
Expressing the need for closure, William’s sister-in-law, Nancy Neil, emphasizes the family’s longing for justice.
“I believe we all do. His siblings would have wanted answers before they passed away, but unfortunately, they never received them,” shared Neil.
Detective Staff Sergeant Erin Thomas of the OPP’s Criminal Investigation Branch reveals continuous efforts in revisiting and analyzing the case over the years.
“We have meticulously re-evaluated every piece of evidence and scrutinized potential suspects multiple times. We remain confident that this case is still resolvable,” stated Thomas.
The upcoming season of the podcast, “Tracking a Killer: The Cold Case Files,” will delve into this perplexing case, shedding light on the investigation process.
