A man has been apprehended by the police in connection with an unprovoked attack on Valentine’s Day in downtown Toronto.
According to investigators, the incident occurred in the Kensington Market neighborhood, close to the intersection of Spadina Avenue and Nassau Street around 4 p.m. on February 14. The victim was walking when an individual approached them and sprayed a substance believed to be pepper spray directly in their face.
The assailant then fled the scene heading south on Spadina Avenue. On Monday, authorities successfully located and arrested the suspect.
Identified as 33-year-old Anthony Bernhardt with no fixed address, the individual faces multiple charges, including assault with a weapon, administering a noxious substance with the intent to harm, and breaching probation.
Bernhardt was set to make a court appearance in Toronto on Monday.
