A major intersection in Coquitlam is currently experiencing closures on Thursday morning due to an unfortunate incident where a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle.

The Coquitlam RCMP swiftly arrived at the scene of the accident that took place at the busy junction of Guildford Way and Lansdowne Drive just before 7 a.m.

According to BC Emergency Health Services, paramedics were on hand to provide immediate care to two individuals involved in the incident. Both victims were then taken to the hospital and are reported to be in stable condition.

Despite sustaining injuries, the driver involved in the collision as well as the pedestrian are said to be in a non-life-threatening condition, as confirmed by the Mounties.

As authorities continue their investigation into the matter, the westbound lanes of Guildford Way and the northbound lanes of Lansdowne Drive remain closed as a precautionary measure.

Motorists are urged to steer clear of the affected area for their safety and to allow emergency services to work without obstruction.
