“Daily Dose of Deceit: QS MNA Bouazzi Exposes Rampant Lies and Intimidation in Quebec National Assembly”

Québec solidaire member of the National Assembly, Haroun Bouazzi, has once again stirred controversy by criticizing the workings of the parliamentary institution.

In a recent interview with the local publication Journal des Voisins, Bouazzi raised concerns about what he perceives as a culture of deception and intimidation within the National Assembly. He described the environment as “toxic” and expressed his belief that negativity and dishonesty are prevalent in the daily operations of the legislative body.

Following Bouazzi’s comments, the CAQ government has called for his expulsion from the QS caucus, citing his disruptive behavior. However, a QS press secretary defended Bouazzi, claiming that his remarks were taken out of context and emphasizing that he did not intend to attack his colleagues.

Bouazzi, who represents the Maurice-Richard riding in Montreal, has been vocal about his dissatisfaction with the National Assembly, stating that it is challenging to find happiness in such a contentious environment. Despite this, he acknowledged feeling a sense of belonging during his tenure.

In response to the escalating tension, Bouazzi issued a statement clarifying his position, asserting that while he respects the institution of the National Assembly, he finds the prevalence of manipulation and dishonesty unhealthy.

Government leader Jolin-Barrette swiftly condemned Bouazzi’s comments as radical and called for his expulsion from the QS caucus. He emphasized the need for leadership within the party to address such behavior decisively.

Bouazzi, who announced earlier that he would not seek re-election in 2026, has a history of making controversial statements, including previous remarks about racism in the National Assembly.
