Frigid nights, flurries this week before weekend warmth in Montreal

A cold and unsettled week is in store for Montreal, with temperatures well below zero through most of the next seven days and several rounds of snow before a weekend thaw.

Monday brings mainly cloudy skies and a high of zero Celsius, with gusts of up to 40 kilometres per hour. The wind chill will make it feel like minus-13 C in the morning. Overnight, skies become partly cloudy with a low of minus-14 C and the wind chill dipping to minus-20.

Tuesday sees clouds clearing with sunny skies, but cold with a high of minus-9 C. The cold intensifies again overnight as periods of snow move in, pushing the low back down to minus-15 C.

Wednesday will see periods of snow continuing through the day and a high of minus-2 C. Flurries linger into the overnight hours with a low of minus-6 C.

Thursday brings a welcome stretch of sunshine and a high of minus-1 C. However, clouds return overnight and a low of minus-8 C.

Friday offers a mix of sun and cloud and the week’s first above-zero temperature, with a high of 2 C. Overnight, cloudy periods move in with a low of minus-1 C.

The week ends on a mild note. Saturday is forecast to bring a mix of sun and cloud with a 30 per cent chance of showers and a high of 5 C.
