Snowy start, milder weekend ahead in Montreal

Residents are waking up to periods of snow today, with about two centimetres expected by evening. A southeast wind at 20 km/h is adding an extra bite to the air, pushing the wind chill to minus-20 C this morning before easing to minus- 7 Celsius this afternoon. The high will reach minus-2 C under a low UV index of 1.

Flurries continue tonight with another two centimetres possible. Winds will shift to the southwest at 20 km/h, gusting up to 40 near midnight. Temperatures will dip to minus-6 C, with the wind chill making it feel closer to minus- 12 C overnight.

Thursday, brings a mix of sun and cloud and a high of minus-1 C. Gusty southwest winds will ease late in the day. Wind chills will hover around minus-13 C in the morning and minus-4 C in the afternoon.

Friday continues the trend of mixed sun and cloud, with a slight warm-up to plus 1 C.

A bigger change arrives Saturday, when periods of rain are expected and temperatures climb to 7 degrees. However, winter isn’t done yet, there’s a 60 per cent chance of flurries Saturday night as temperatures fall to minus-9 C.

Sunday clears but turns sharply colder, with a high of minus-7 C and a frigid overnight low of minus-22 C under clear skies.
