Teen sentenced to 14 Years in triple murder in Rivière-des-Prairies

A Montreal man who took part in a deadly 2021 daytime shooting in Rivière-des-Prairies has been sentenced to 14 years in prison as an adult.

Dardy Lavaud, now 22, was 17 at the time of the Aug. 2, 2021 attack on Perras Blvd., where gunmen opened fire from two moving vehicles during a birthday gathering. Molière Dantes, Jafferson Sylla and Jerry Willer Jean-Baptiste were killed, and two others were injured.

Lavaud pleaded guilty to manslaughter and aggravated assault in Youth Court. The judge said the adult sentence is far harsher than the maximum three years he would have faced under youth legislation.

The shooting was linked to a street gang conflict. Lavaud, who was arrested three years later, is already serving nearly 12 years for two additional shootings in 2022. He will begin the new sentence after completing his current term.
