A section of a street in Langley has been closed due to a gas emergency, FortisBC has confirmed.
“We can confirm FortisBC crews are responding to a damaged gas main caused by an external party near the intersection of 80th Avenue and 197th Street in Langley,” a spokesperson told 1130 NewsRadio.
“The local fire department was onsite and has closed 80th Avenue between 192nd Street and 199th Street while our crews make the necessary repairs to our system.”
As of 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Fortis says it isn’t able to provide an estimated time of repair.
“Our first priority is to make the situation safe and determine the best way to stop the flow of gas due to the damage,” the spokesperson said.
