A man in his 20s who was shot in the upper body is in critical condition in Montreal on Thursday morning.
At approximately 10:45 p.m. on Wednesday, witnesses reported to 911 that they heard a gunshot near the intersection of Broadway Street and 7th Ave., in Montreal’s LaSalle borough.
When they arrived at the scene, the police officers spotted the man in his 20s lying unconscious on the ground. He had a gunshot wound to his upper body.
The man was transported to a hospital, where he was still fighting for his life early Thursday. The victim’s identity was unknown to law enforcement several hours after the incident.
The suspect(s) fled before the police arrived, so no arrests were made immediately.
Investigators from the Montreal Police (SPVM) will try to determine if surveillance cameras captured images that could be relevant to their investigation.
A security perimeter has been erected around the crime scene so that it can be analyzed by investigators and forensic identification technicians.
