Two people lost their lives on Wednesday after a head-on collision between two vehicles in Crabtree, in the Lanaudière region.
The accident happened around 3:30 p.m. on Route 158, explained Marc Tessier, spokesman for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
According to initial information, a driver lost control of his vehicle, went to the shoulder, and swerved into the opposite lane.
He then collided with a vehicle that was coming in the opposite direction, the spokesman said.
The two occupants of the vehicle that swerved were taken to a hospital, where they were pronounced dead later in the evening.
The driver of the other vehicle was also transported to a hospital with minor injuries.
Route 158 was closed to allow police to carry out analyses to shed light on the circumstances of this accident.
“The slippery road could be one of the factors in the collision, but we are just at the beginning of the investigation, so there could be other factors that could also be added later,” added Tessier.
