Montreal police (SPVM) said they are looking for potential victims of a former hospital worker who is facing charges of sexual assault.
SPVM said 49-year-old Abdelaali Laaziz, former employee at Maisonneuve Rosement Hospital was arrested on Feb. 1 in connection with an alleged incident in December 2025.
Through an investigation, police believe that there could be other victims of Laaziz, who came into contact with many vulnerable patients at the hospital as part of his job as a patient attendant.
“The information gathered suggests that he took advantage of his position to perform sexual acts on certain patients,” SPVM said in a press release.
“He also allegedly offered unnecessary care or care that was not part of the treatment plan, using these pretexts to commit other acts of a sexual nature.”
SPVM said Laaziz was 1.74 m tall and weighed 71 kg, with brown hair and eyes. He mainly spoke French.
