Woman’s body found in forest near Chilliwack, RCMP says

The RCMP says it is investigating after the body of a 68-year-old woman was found in a forested area near Chilliwack.

Police were called to the Chilliwack River Valley shortly after 4 p.m. Saturday after receiving a report of possible human remains discovered along Pale Creek Forest Service Road.

“Due to the remote location, RCMP Air Services assisted officers in accessing the area,” Cpl. Carmen Kiener told 1130 NewsRadio.

“Chilliwack Search and Rescue attended to assist with safely recovering the remains.”

Mounties found a vehicle nearby that was found to be “associated to the deceased.”

The BC Coroners Service has been called in to investigate.

Police aren’t releasing the woman’s name at this time. Kiener says foul play is not suspected.
