Boil water advisory lifted in parts of Montreal’s West Island, St-Laurent

A boil water advisory that was put in place for parts of Montreal’s West Island and the Saint-Laurent borough has been lifted.

Officials say that sample tests have confirmed that the water meets all regulatory standards, which means there is no longer a need to boil water before consuming it.

The advisory was issued on Sunday for areas including Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Dorval, Pointe-Claire, and Saint-Laurent borough, as work needed to be carried out on the water distribution system.

Despite the advisory being lifted, Montrealers are being advised to turn on all cold water faucets and let them run for a few minutes prior to using them, including outdoor taps, water hoses, and drinking fountains.

Additionally, those who were under the advisory are being told to empty, wash, and disinfect coffee makers and ice-making machines, change filters if you have a water treatment or filtration system (pitcher, faucet filter, or under-sink filter, refrigerator water dispenser, etc.).
