Watermain repairs continue on De Lorimier Avenue

Repair crews are continuing work on a damaged watermain along Ave. De Lorimier, as residents in the area remain affected by water service disruptions.

City officials say crews are currently working to restore water service in the area. An additional shutdown took effect Thursday morning on Laurier Ave. between Bordeaux and De Lorimier while repairs continue.

The work has been slowed by the complexity of the site. Officials say the watermain runs close to a gas line operated by Énergir, requiring extra precautions. A section of pavement has also subsided, meaning crews now need to remove part of the sidewalk and secure the nearby gas pipe before continuing repairs.

Authorities say they are working closely with Énergir teams to ensure the safety of workers and the public.

Meanwhile, Ave. De Lorimier remains closed between Masson Street and Saint-Joseph Blvd. East while the work continues.

Residents affected by the outage can pick up bottled water near the work site, with supplies available at 5245 De Lorimier Ave.

Officials also warn that once service is restored, a boil-water advisory will be in effect. Residents are advised to consult the door hangers distributed in the neighbourhood for more details.
