Police investigate suspected shooting at Abbotsford home

The Abbotsford Police Department (AbbyPD) is investigating after reports of a shooting at a home near Ravine Park Monday evening.

Police responded to the home on Cannon Avenue near Bevan Avenue around 8 p.m., but say the occupants of the home wouldn’t let officers inside.

“During efforts to evacuate the home, several individuals became uncooperative and barricaded themselves inside, resulting in the deployment of the Emergency Response Team (ERT) due to the nature of the call and information that firearms were present inside the home,” said a statement from the AbbyPD Tuesday morning.

It says officers eventually removed nine people from the home and “detained” them, but no arrests have been made.

The ERT reportedly used distraction devices, making loud bangs that could be heard througout the area.

Police say the incident was resolved, without reported injuries, shortly after midnight, but the investigation continues.

“The residence is currently being held by police pending a search warrant, which investigators expect to serve later [Tuesday].”

The AbbyPD confirmed to 1130 NewsRadio it has found evidence that suggests a shooting did occur, but “all occupants of the home are not cooperative with police.”

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Abbotsford Police Department.
