Mounties in Burnaby have asked for public assistance in identifying a suspect in an alleged road rage incident in August last year.
Police say the suspect reportedly approached the victim’s vehicle and punched the driver’s side window, smashing it.
The RCMP says that the alleged suspect, who returned to the victim’s vehicles just seconds after the first altercation, also grabbed a cell phone from the victim’s dashboard and threw it at the second occupant of the vehicle.
Both occupants sustained injuries from the incident, which occurred on Aug. 19 on Dover Street near Royal Oak Avenue, according to police.
Police uploaded a video, recorded by the dash-cam of the victim’s vehicle, showing the reported incident and the alleged suspect.
“The video is hard to watch, and the violence displayed is simply inexcusable,” said Cpl. Mike Kalanj with the Burnaby RCMP.
“We are confident that someone will be able to identify the suspect, and we ask that they come forward and speak to our investigators.”
Police add that an investigation has been launched and that the passenger of the suspect’s vehicle has been identified as the registered owner.
However, the owner refuses to identify the suspect.
The video can be watched here.
The Burnaby RCMP asks witnesses to contact investigators at 604-646-9999.
