Karine Ménard appointed new Laval Police Chief

The City of Laval has named Karine Ménard as the new director of the Laval Police Service (SPL), succeeding Pierre Brochet, who left earlier this year. Her appointment was approved by city council on March 10.

Ménard, a former deputy director in charge of criminal investigations, has over 20 years of experience with the SPL, including roles as patrol officer, detective sergeant, and inspector. She has led major investigations and several initiatives, including the Vigilance Against Extortion and Justice and Equity projects.

She will also serve as director of the Laval Integrity and Ethics Office, bringing her expertise in management and strategy to the role.

Brochet, who led the SPL for 12 years, left to become Vice President of Corporate Security at Desjardins Group.
