Second pedestrian hit in Maple Ridge in two days: RCMP

Ridge Meadows RCMP are investigating a second crash involving a pedestrian in just as many days this week.

Mounties say a 45-year-old woman was struck on 227th Street near the Eric Langton Elementary School on Tuesday morning, around 7:30 a.m.

She was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Mounties say the driver of the vehicle remained on scene and is cooperating with investigators.

The Ridge Meadows RCMP is asking witnesses to contact officers at 604-463-6251.

In the meantime, on Monday, a 91-year-old pedestrian riding a mobility scooter was struck by a vehicle.

The victim remains in the hospital in stable but serious condition.

“While our thoughts are with the victims and everyone affected by these unfortunate incidents, we also want to encourage our community to take this moment to reflect on road safety,” Ridge Meadows RCMP Inspector Martin Guay said.

“Even small, simple actions can make a big difference in keeping yourself and others safe.”
