18-year-old man wounded in Montreal shooting

An 18-year-old man was shot and wounded late Wednesday night in Montreal’s Rosemont–La Petite‑Patrie borough.

Montreal police (SPVM) says medical staff contacted police around midnight after a man arrived at a hospital with a possible gunshot wound.

Authorities say the injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Officers met the victim at the hospital and determined he had a lower-body injury likely caused by firearm projectiles, police said.

Investigators plan to meet with the victim and potential witnesses to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Police are also checking the area for surveillance cameras that may have captured images of the incident.

It is the second time in about a week that a gunshot victim has arrived at a Montreal hospital seeking medical treatment.
