For the second time this week, Burnaby North Secondary School was placed on a temporary lockdown, the RCMP tells CityNews.
Police say they were called to the school, located at 751 Hammarskjold Drive, shortly before 1 p.m. Thursday after receiving a report of a threat.
“The school was placed on lockdown temporarily as a precaution,” the Burnaby RCMP said.
“Police have cleared the school and determined the threat was not credible.”

In a letter to parents, the Burnaby School District confirmed the lockdown and outlined what steps were taken.
“As part of our procedure, everyone was swiftly directed into classrooms, all doors were locked, and all windows were closed,” the school district said.
“While Burnaby RCMP officers continued their investigation, we kept the school in a lockdown until about 2 p.m.”
On Monday, the school had gone on lockdown for about an hour. This was also due to a reported threat that was determined not to be credible, police say.
The Burnaby RCMP says it is still in the initial stages of its investigation and isn’t able to determine whether these threats are related to similar threats made in Coquitlam last month.
