Eight teens have reportedly been taken into custody in connection with an assault at a convenience store on March 3.
Repentigny’s mayor, Nicolas Dufour, confirmed on social media Friday afternoon, saying the Service de police de la Ville de Repentigny (SPVR) made eight arrests Friday morning.
“That’s why, throughout the week, we invite you to be cautious and respect the work of police officers,” said Dufour.
The incident in question circulated quickly online, showing students, on their lunch break, pushing a convenience store security guard to the ground.
Initial reports say “a girl was reportedly taking refuge inside the convenience store,” explained Steve Toupin, the SPVR’s deputy director of their investigations division. “Later, some people tried to enter but were refused entry. This led to an altercation between an older man, presumably the security guard, and students from École l’Horizon.”
It is believed that the teens could be facing charges from intimidation and harassment to assault and disturbing the peace.
