A serious accident occurred Friday morning in the Notre-Dame-de-Grâce neighbourhood of Montreal when a young girl allegedly ran over a man with a vehicle.
The incident happened around 8:30 a.m. on Darlington Ave. According to initial information, the man became trapped underneath a Hyundai Tucson after the vehicle moved forward while he was outside of it.
Montreal firefighters were dispatched to the scene and used wooden blocks to lift the vehicle in order to free the victim, who was unconscious at the time.
The man suffered numerous fractures and was transported to hospital in critical condition.
The young girl who was inside the vehicle reportedly suffered nervous shock following the incident.
Police say the driver had exited the vehicle moments earlier for reasons that remain unknown. At some point, the vehicle began moving again and struck the man.
An investigation has been launched to determine the exact sequence of events. A section of Darlington Ave. was temporarily closed to traffic while Montreal police collision investigators examined the scene.
