Police in Maple Ridge are asking people to avoid the area as officers respond to a situation at Haney Place Mall.
Details are limited, but the Ridge Meadows RCMP says it’s “handling” a police incident at the shopping centre near 224 Street and Lougheed Highway.
In a post to social media around 6 a.m., Mounties asked the public to stay away.
Social media users report seeing police barricades around the mall.
1130 NewsRadio has reached out to the Ridge Meadows RCMP for more information. Police say they will share more details soon, but confirmed that “all ‘activity’ has subsided,” as of 8:30 a.m., and the RCMP is “holding the scene out of an abundance of caution.”
