Video shared online of Vaughan shooting linked to attempted arson, police say

York Regional Police (YRP) are investigating two violent incidents at the same Vaughan home after shots were fired at the residence on Wednesday morning, just 48 hours after suspects attempted to set a vehicle ablaze in the driveway.

Officers were called to Kleinburg Summit Way and First Nations Trail around 9:20 a.m. on Wednesday for reports of gunfire. Police say at least three suspects arrived in a black SUV, wearing face coverings and dark clothing, before multiple shots were fired at a residence. No injuries were reported. The suspects fled the scene immediately after opening fire.

CityNews has verified one of the videos circulating on X, and police confirm it is directly connected to the shooting. The footage shows a suspect leaning out of a vehicle and firing a gun toward a residence.

“All motives behind the shooting are still being investigated,” police told CityNews. “The source of the videos is being looked into.”

The shooting follows an attempted arson at the same residence on Monday, at around 2:50 a.m. Police say a dark-coloured sedan pulled up in front of the home, and two suspects exited the vehicle. They poured gasoline on a vehicle parked in the driveway but were unable to ignite it before fleeing. No injuries were reported in either incident.

Authorities said two male suspects are wanted. Suspect one was last seen wearing a black hoodie, black sweatpants, and black shoes. The second suspect has a light complexion and was last observed with a red bandana, black hooded sweater, white T‑shirt, black sweatpants, and black and grey shoes.

Police say officers will remain in the neighbourhood throughout the day as the investigation continues. No arrests have been made.

York Regional Police are urging anyone with information or additional footage to contact them.
