Charges have been approved after a woman was allegedly sexually assaulted in downtown Vancouver on March 25, the VPD says.
Derek Jason Sangris, 47, has been charged with one count of sexual assault and unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon.
The alleged attack happened after 7 p.m. on Granville Street between Dunsmuir and Pender.
The woman reported that she was groped by a stranger. Witnesses also reported the suspect had randomly assaulted other people on the street.
Upon arriving on site, police located the suspect and arrested him.
Sangris continues to be held in custody until his next court appearance on April 10.
Further investigation into the incident is being conducted by the Special Investigation Section.
