Montreal sees spring tease with mild temperatures before return to flurries and freezing rain

Montrealers may want to keep both their winter coats and rain gear close by as the city heads into a week of shifting spring weather.

Environment and Climate Change Canada says Sunday will stay mainly cloudy, with a 40 per cent chance of flurries in the morning and winds picking up to 20 km/h, gusting to 40. The high will reach 7 Celsius, though wind chill will make it feel closer to minus-11 C early in the day.

Skies will clear slightly overnight with a low of plus 3.

The brief taste of warmer weather arrives Monday, with a mix of sun and cloud and a high of 14 C. Winds will strengthen to 30 km/h, gusting to 50, before clouds move in late in the afternoon. Rain is expected Monday night, with temperatures dropping to zero.

More unsettled conditions return Tuesday, with periods of snow or rain and a high of plus 3. Rain or freezing rain is expected overnight, with a low of minus-1.

Midweek will continue the pattern, as Wednesday brings periods of snow or rain and a high of plus 5, followed by cloudy periods and a low of minus-4 at night.

Thursday is expected to remain cloudy with a high of plus 4, before periods of snow develop overnight and temperatures dip to minus-1.

By Friday, a mix of snow or rain is forecast with a high of 6, changing to periods of rain overnight and a low of plus 3.

The week wraps up Saturday under cloudy skies, with a 60 per cent chance of showers and a high of 9.
