The Laval Transit Corporation is restoring its regular service, as it now has enough buses in good condition.
The transport company had to suspend around 60 journeys on March 10 due to significant delays in the regular maintenance of buses, caused by problems with parts supply and equipment management.
On March 9, officials announced that 39 journeys per day would be cancelled during the morning rush hour and 23 during the late afternoon rush hour. This represented a service reduction of approximately 2.6 per cent.
The situation has therefore recovered more quickly than expected, since on March 9 she had said she anticipated such disruptions “minimal” for the next four to eight weeks.
“At that time, cancelling trips was the only possible decision, as we had to act responsibly to prioritize the safety of our customers and employees,” the STL said in a statement issued Monday.
The transport company claims to have taken short-term measures and put in place processes to prevent the situation from recurring in the medium and long term as much as possible.
“Whether it was to compensate for staff absences, to accelerate the delivery of certain parts, or to review certain operational processes, the teams redoubled their efforts, and these efforts yielded more than conclusive results. In parallel, a team bringing together various stakeholders was formed to formulate recommendations that will improve the current structure and the various elements that compose it.”
