The emergency department at Mission Memorial Hospital will continue to operate under reduced hours for another six days, Fraser Health announced on Wednesday.
The health authority says that the ER will open its doors at 8 a.m. and will close at 5 p.m., starting on Wednesday and ending on Easter Monday.
Outside those hours, only emergency-trained nurses will be on site.
They will be “available to support walk-in patients needing basic care, assist with re-direction of care, and/or transfer patients with urgent needs to a neighbouring hospital,” the health authority said in a written statement.
Originally, Fraser Health was scheduled to reopen the ER non-stop after March 31, after the emergency department had been operating under reduced hours between March 14 and this Tuesday.

The health authority adds that people can still call 911 and receive emergency care through paramedics, who will then transport patients to different nearby ERs.
People with non-life-threatening concerns are asked to access the Urgent and Primary Care Centre (UPCC).
The health authority also wants to remind residents of the Fraser Health Virtual Care at 1-800-314-0999 to speak with a registered nurse from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., 7 days a week.
