Cole Caufield gets another crack at goal No. 50

An exclusive club of some of the most decorated players in Montreal Canadiens history could be getting a new member Tuesday night.

Cole Caufield is looking to become just the seventh Habs player to score 50 in a season when the Canadiens host the Florida Panthers.

Caufield is stuck on 49 goals after failing to find the back of the net in back-to-back contests against the New Jersey Devils over the weekend.

The 25-year-old would become the first Canadiens player to score 50 in a season since Stephane Richer did it in 1990.

Richer (twice), Guy Lafleur (six times), Steve Shutt, Bernie Geoffrion, Pierre Larouche and Maurice Richard are the only players in the storied franchise to achieve that milestone. Caufield is looking to join them.
