Mounties in Maple Ridge are investigating after an attempted robbery at a jewelry store Tuesday afternoon.
The Maple Ridge RCMP says it responded to reports of a robbery in progress at the ValleyFair Mall on Lougheed Highway near 227 Street around 5 p.m.
The responding officers learned two men had entered the mall while masked, were interrupted by security, and sprayed bear spray before leaving.
Police say paramedics arrived to treat bystanders who were affected by the spray, but no other injuries were reported.
After speaking with witnesses and reviewing security video, Mounties say the investigation is ongoing.
