One person is dead after being hit by a SkyTrain at Vancouver’s Main Street Station Friday evening, police have confirmed.
The incident appears to have been accidental, police tell 1130 NewsRadio.
Police were called to the station around 8 p.m.
“Officers arrived on scene and located an individual in medical distress,” said Const. Amanda Steed, media relations officer for Metro Vancouver Transit Police.
“Despite life saving measures by first responders, the individual was pronounced deceased on scene.”
The station was closed to the public while emergency crews waited for the coroner.
“The death does not appear suspicious and criminality is not suspected,” Steed said.
